Stay Ahead of The Curve: 9 Skills to Thrive in the Future of Work

Today’s Micro-Action Challenge: Critical Thinking, one of the nine key traits, is one of my favorites. It involves analyzing information, evaluating evidence, and making sound judgments based on various perspectives and experiences. My challenge for you today is to think like a scientist. Be skeptically optimistic and try to disprove a system, practice, theory, or process rather than trying to prove its credibility. This includes your self-evaluation of your work as well, which takes significant courage to hold up the mirror. I know many people who have a hard time evaluating their work. This approach is known as falsifiability, a concept popularized by philosopher Karl Popper. It suggests that scientific theories should be framed in a way that they can be tested and potentially disproven, which is crucial for the advancement of knowledge. You avoid confirmation bias and open the door to a more robust and objective analysis by attempting to disprove rather than prove. Approach your next conversation with care and curiosity, asking questions that reveal new insights. This method shifts mindsets dramatically, focusing on what doesn’t work and what can be improved, leading to more innovative and effective solutions. Happy disproving!
